W. Van police nab
prisoner at large

A PRISON escapee is back in
custody after breaking out of
Agassiz Mountain Prison on
Sept. 19.

West Vancouver Police arrested
40-year-old Lawrence Donetz on
Wednesday.

According to a police spokesman,
a resident of Moyne Drive in the
British Properties returned home at
6:30 p.m. to find Donetz in her
house.

He fled into a bush area near
Cleveland Dam.

Police tracked the suspect to the
Capilano River.

As police pursuing the suspect
began to cross t* . river, another offi-
cer, searchinz, for the suspect on
Capilano Road, spotted Donetz and
apprehended him.

Police subsequently recovered
about $5,000 worth of property
stolen from two homes on Moyne
Drive.

Donetz remains in custody in
West Vancouver. He faces two
charges of break and entry, posses-
sion of stolen property over $1,000
and being unlawfully at large.
