Washington Superior Court Judge Steve Mura accepted the argument that the youth acted in sell!-defence. Pee Diana Campbell said she spoke to prosecuting attorney Greg Greenan about a possible appeal or review of the mid-December decision on Tuesday, but was told that nothing could be done. The not-guilty verdict cannot be appealed, according to lawyers on both sides of the cage. Said Campbell, ‘This trial had been in my mind ever since | knew about it. “J thought when it’s over, that’s it, 1 am just going to go on with my fife. But the way it was handled, Pm just more upset than I was before [ went.” The youth had faced six years in jail if convicted of the murder charge. Campbell, who has three daughters and recently moved to northern B.C., said the pro- secuting attorney told her before the trial that he wasn’t going to downplay the fact the Canadian teens started the fight.
