That’s why Vancouver’s hands-on interactive science centre is hosting A Celebration of Seniors from Tuesday, Sept. 8 to Friday, Soot. 18. In addition io aii of the fascinating permanent exhibits, special events for seniors on health and financial issues, travel and hobbies will be held. Highlights from the celebration include such diverse activities as lectures and talks with senior ceiebrities like impresario Hugh Pickett, gardener Brian Minter, television host Joyce Resin, col- umnists Bob Nicolson and Kay Alsop, bingo games, tai chi and square dancing demonstrations, tips on travelling from Gullivers, the Elder Hostel Association and varigus tour groups, ideas on how tc become familiar with com- puters, an historical fashion show, and how to meet peopie and make friends in -your older years. From Friday, Sept. .11 to Sun- day, Sept. 13, the focus will be on train transportation. Making Tracks will include displays from several Lower Mainland . train clubs, as well as models from BC Rail and the Canadian Railroad Historical Association and displays from the B.C. Society of Modet Engineers, BC Transit and the West Coast Railway Associa- tion, All seniors visiting during A Celebration of Seniors will be in- vited to enter to win a wide varie- ty of door prizes including a basic gardening course at VanDusen Botanical Garden, gift certificates to Sprinklers Restaurant and the Ferguson Point Teahouse Restan- ram in Staniey Park and Solid Gold Coupon Books.
