THE PREVIOUSLY undefeated Classic Blues proved to be no
match for the Kokance All-Stars on Sunday as the team received a
26-6 thrashing in North Shore Men’s Top-Flight Flag Football
League action.

The coup was staged by the rushing of ex-CFLer Brent Racette
combined with the offensive talents of Cary Lehmberg, Reece
Pappin and Jamie Holmes.

In other games, Sailor Hagar’s Norsemen quarterback Les Vard
connected twice with receiver Pat Helm to lead the Norsemen to a
26-9 win over the Hawks.

Meanwhile, J.B. Knights edged Possum 37-33 and the Unicorn
Gamecocks beat the Rats 28-18.

Flag football games are played every Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11
a.m. at Hamilton school in Nozin Vancouver.

United wins cup,
loses final

NORTH SHORE United made soccer history Sunday at Port
Moody us it become the first women’s North Shore soccer team (o
ever play in the Provincial Cup finals.

Although the team lost — defeated 2-0 by the Coquitlam Strikers
— four North Shore United players have been selected to try out
for the B.C. Select Team.

Julie Grant, Carol MacKay, Andrea Neal and Angie Slee were
selected.

Playing its first year ir the premier division, the North Shore
squad won the Metro Premier Women’s Soccer Lesgue cup tie
weekend leading up to the arovincial final, edging Nraaime 4-3.

Soccer league
kicks off season

THE NORTH Shore Midas Challenge Cup Soccer League started
play for the summer season this past week, with a roster of
Coaches League teams not prepared to take a holiday from the
game.

The opening match saw Avalon Rangers edge F.C. Germanis 3-2
on May i at Loutet Park. Dave Sawley opened the scoring for
Rangers in the early minutes on & set-play set-up from mid-field
mate Neil Farley aud Terry McQueen made it 2-0 from a goal-
rnouth scramble before Brian Smith pulled Germania back within a
geal on a header before half-time.

In the second half, iain MacKay and Farley broke away and
MacKay kuocked in the evcntual winner, with an own-goal by
Rangers making the score close at the end.

The next night at Boulevard Park, Accouniemps got goals from
Pat Lewis, Doug Bayley and Craig Johnston en route to a 3-1 win
over Castlemaine XXXX, with Ian Lowry notching the lone goal
for the losers.

The scheduled match between Olympia Goldcaps and Mt.
Seymour Ravens was postponed.

Grouse, Skyline
neck and neck

A WIN for. Grouse Mountain over Skyline Sports on Sunday hes
those two teams tied for first place in the major league of the
Forest Hills Little League with five wins and two losses each.
Christian Jacobs was the winning pitcher for Grouse Mountain.
In the minor league, Capilano has a commanding lead with 12
points, while Whitman Electric is in second piace with six points.
