THERE WAS plenty of action for the 15,718 fans who showed up at B.C. Place Stadium
Saturday aight for the Whitecaps 2-0 bome opener win against San Diego Sockers. Fran
O'Brien headed in the second goal, top left, off a cross from Bob Lenarduzzi. The tiny
trishman had a strong game for the ‘Caps from the midfield. In the top photo, he is shown
moving in towards goal. Above, David Cross finds the going a bit rough as this Socker puts the
grab on the big tough striker who scored the opening goal. And below, Cross narrowly avoids

having his head used as the ball by Socker keeper Jim Gorster as he climbs on teammate Peter
Ward.
