Chief among those was John Beaudoin who, after overcoming, a pyor start, managed to finish the Sports Car Club of B.C. (SCCBC) race first in his class and sec-. ond overall. Reaudoin’s name may ring a bell with long-time radio listeners who remember his days as a C-FOX disc jock- ey. * “The SCCBC race, along with the Indy Lights and KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship, i is run in con- junction with the Indy main event. It features several class- es racing concurrently on the same track that is later taken over by the likes of Michael Andretti, Greg Moore and Alex Zanardi. Other North Shore podi- um finishers in their respective classes included: Doug Yip, Tan Lambert, Gerald Pactz, Alan Huston aud Brian Bradley. At the race’s outset, Rutledge, 20, who started out in seventh position, was run- ning a race worthy Gia home- town boy making a successful return. However, even as he was closing on the race’s eventual top five finishers, his car could not keep up with him. The fifth lap saw it start to cut out sporadically. In the pits mechanics looked the car over and sent Rutledge out again where but he stalled compleiely less than a lap later.
