The Vancouver Museum's gala fundraiser, it’s a multi- faceted feature exhibit call- ed Panache: 200 years of the Fashionable Woman, a years-long project that was painstakingly assembled and coordinated by fashion his- torian, Ivan Sayers, with invaluable assistance from the chairman of the event, Countess Aline Dobrzensky. The bubbly Denese and her in- ternationally-recognized artist- husband, Daniel lzzard, whose latest exhibition opened Wednes- day sight to a crush crowd at Harrison Galleries in Park Royal were there, as were North Van's chic and sleek Zonda Neltis and her happy Whitecap Publishing husband David Robinson; Pacific Centre’s Buz Golightly who came as a 1920s gangster, complete with gat; and Baroness Heidi von Pfet- (en, who was also on the Panache committee and has just moved to West Van. Her daughter, Stephanie, modelled the gorgeaus silk set from Adagio for the auction. Speaking of artist Daniet tz- zard, his latest exhibition can best be described as sunshine on can- vas, a reflection of a joy of living that strikes directly at the heart. I come away from gazing at an Izzard and my whole being is happily uplifted!... eee While this wasn't a black-tie chilled champagne soiree, it was a fun afternoon as the North Shore lost 39 lbs. Their first effort, Fast and Fan- tastic, went into four printings and sold out each time. This new cookbook is More Fast and Fantastic and it is fan- tastic — at least from the sampl- ings we taste-tested at the recep- tion in their offices on Tuesday. Executive director Arlene Gladstone and the energetic orga- nizer for the fundraising cookbook, Doreen Ramage, were delighted with the turnout and with the enthusiastic response from the guests. For three of those guests, it was the first occasion since the election that they've had a chance to so- cialize.
