Van City to give awards for heritage conservation AS PART of its Heritage Program, the City of North Vancouver will be granting awards for achievements in heritage conservation during Heritage Weck, February 18-24, 1991. These awards will be granted in recognition of outstanding accomplishments in heritage conservation in the following categories: © Residential Building Conservation: Honoring an outstanding restoration or the aduptive re-use of a residential heritage building or its landscaping. © Commercial Building Conservation: Honoring an outstanding restoration or the adaptive re-use of a commerical heritage building or its landscaping. © Personal Achievement: Honoring an individual or corporation for outstanding community achieve: ment in support of heritage conservation in the City. All inventoried heritage buildings in the City or any individual who has made a significant contribu- tion to the conservation of the City s heritage are el- igible for these awards. If you know of a heritage building or an individual who deserves such recognition you should submit your nomination to City Hall prior to December 31, 1990. Thirty-one per cent of the homes listed in tne North Van- couver District: heritage inventory are in the North Lonsdale Histor- ical District; this includes 32 buildings on the primary and sec- ondary fist and 23 on the sup- plementary list. (The supplemen- tary list consists of homes which have been altered from their orig- inal character but which could be restored.) Burns expects that next year, when the district celebrates its centennial, heritage designation will be especially promoted.
