May 16, 1999 — North Shore News Woman Struck by vehicle A 31-year-old North ‘Vancouver woman was hit by a car on Wednesday as she tried to protect her 2 4 year- old son from being struck by the same vehicle. The woman injured her hip and knee. She was taken to Lions Gate Hospital. According to the North Vancouver RCMP, the woman and her toddler were walking in the 3000-block of Highland Boulevard near the entrance to a lance. The woman stepped in front of her child to protect him from being hit by a four- door burgundy car. ‘The car hit her. The injured pedestrian said the driver of the car sto ped and looked at her efore he drove off. The motorist is described as being Asian. The name of the injured woman was not released. Anyone with inforniation about the 11:30 a.m. hit and run is asked to call North Vancouver RCMP Const. Bryan Fedirchuk at 985- 1311 Meanwhile, the North Vancouver RCMP are look- ing for witnesses to a single- car crash on April 27 on Lynn Valley Road at William Avenue. The crash took place at 10 -m. The driver of a damaged 1990 red Eagle sedan told police that a white car went through a red light at the intersection. The motorist claims that to avoid hitting the white mid-sized sedan, she sped up and lost control of her car. The motorist was turning left onto Lynn Valley Road.
