INDUSTRIES SHOULD be
forced by law to take back
wastes from the materials
they produce, and far more
of these products should be
biodegradable.

And the provincial government
has considerable power to deter-
mine where solid wastes go, despite
local jurisdiction over garbage col-
lection.

These were two of the citizens’
presentations to the provincial
government’s task force on
municipal solid waste recently held
at the Lonsdale Quay Hotel.

provincial government's intention
to help municipalities reduce their
dependency on landfills by
developing a long-range, pro-
