Dear Editor:

Henry J.M. Gerber's letter in
defence of motorcycles and their
tiders inspires me to put pen to
paper.

As the owner of no fewer than
three motorcycles over a period of
years in England, | would be the
first to agree with Mr. Gerber that
they are indeed ‘'wonderfully
powerful and manoeuvrable
machines.”’

My argument is not with the
motorcycle riders who treat their
machines and their environment
with respect; it is with those whose
super-throttled roar disrupts my

out-on-the-balcony, open-window-
ed summers, and whose ac-
celerating front-wheel-lifting acro-
batics frighten the life out of all
who are forced to witness them.

In short, if these antics are ex-
amples of how ‘ta rider with skill
can reach levels of enjoyment,’ {
would suggest to Mr. Gerber and
his fellow enthusiasts that there is
a more suitable site for indulgence
of ‘this great hobby’ than the in-
tersection of Chesterfield and
Keith.
