District Council held a public meeting on the Marine Drive Corridor Plan, which will designate long-term growth plans for the area. However, it was the designa- tion of Pemberton Heights hill as a Conservation Area which drew the wrath of the neighborhood. The residents charged that council wanted to make the hill a park ‘‘for free’’ which would also lower their pro- perty value. Harold Ridgeway, a Keith Road resident, told council that if they want ‘*greenbelt, then you can pay for it, don’t expropriate it without paying for it.”’ Most council members agreed that the perception by the community was disturb- ing, although they defended the designation. Sull council decided to review the plan, taking into account the concerns of the residents. & N. Van backs away from ‘conservation’ PET CORNER SHICKA IS looking for a home.
