Therapist Finlay saw the need for such a pamphlet, and the three women, confined to wheelchairs, con- tributed bright in- sights. FEELING the need for a layman’s wheelchair guide, occupational and physiotherapist Ann Finlay brought together a committee of wheelchair users with special skills, and together the group of four made a pamphlet available to the public. “I've worked on the North Shore for years and years,’ Finlay says, ‘‘and | So Finlay contacted the Herman Bishop Foundation and was given a grant to see a lot of wheelchair users in the community. | see peo- design the pamphet, now ple stumbling about. Artist Maria George, who did art work for the West Vancouver Recreation Cen- tre’s fall brochure and who teaches art classes, was a major help in designing and laying out the pamplet, and her husband helped with the dummying and shrinking of sketches down to size, Finlay ing, who,recently had her se- cond baby boy, helped with the wording and _ correct English for the pamplet. Sal- ly Scott, a more recent wheelchair user who recently moved into a_ wheelchair group home, had valid input into the difficulties first en- countered by wheelchair users.
