District considers NORTH VANCOUVER District is considering the implications of formulating either a policy or a bylaw that would provide public access to information and protec- tion of privacy. Staff are presently recommen- ding that any new policy should be brought into effect by guidelines rather than with a bylaw to ‘provide more flexibility for the district in the implementa- tion of the procedures’’ and to “reduce the risks of legal liabili- ty.’ The intent of the new policy would be to recognize and endorse the provision of access to records in the custody of the district and to the protection of persenal privacy by: ® giving the public right of access NORTH VANCOUVER DISTRICT COUNCIL to records; @ giving individuals a right of access 10, and a right to request correction of, personal informa- tion about themselves; © specifying limited exceptions to the rights of access; unauthorized disclosure of by the © preventing the collection, use or personal information district.
