Corre suageh wonrttcad Bowen resident plans lake protest BOWEN ISLAND resident Harry Dives has been careful about what he drinks ever since he caught malaria back in World War II. He doesn't drink tea and he doesn't drink coffee and about all he does drink is water - lots of it. So he's pretty fussy about his water being kept clean and pure. Understandably Dives finds it pretty objectionable that the source of Bowen drinking water - Trout Lake - has been taken over as a swimming hole. He went there on Sunday and found more than 50 people swimming around and drinking beer at the spot. What's more, he says it's not as though they're visitors who don't know about the problem. Dives says he recognized them all as Bowen residents. He tned calling the water and health authorities and said he got nowhere. So now Dives is taking matters into his own hands. Dives has told the News he will start picketing the lake and will keep it up until people realize they are contaminating the water. “I guarantee if they don't stop it then before the year is over there is going to be a nasty disease here on Bowen Island,” he warns.
