about time Canadian men beeame liberated - at least body-builder Burl Chester hopes he has established a trend of sorts by splashing. his torso across Playgirl’s April centrefold. “We've been hiding an abundance of talent in this country which the women who read Playgirl would love to see,” said the suave, dark- haired Montrealer, whose chesty 5’9” physique earned him the title “Canadian delight” and the scrutiny of four million eyes when Playgirl hits the stands next week. Chester, a McGill University pre-medical student who turned 29 on Valentine's Day, stripped for the magazine's centrefold after bi being selected for the findis of Playgirl’s $25,000 Man of the 80's contest. “There’s always something special in being a trend- setter, setting the standards for Canada’s sexy men,” said Chester, who took to pumping weights as.a result of being “fat and teased” as a teenager. “Canada is five to 10 years behind the United States,” he added earnestly. “People here should become more liberated. They're more open-minded in the States.” Bashful about being Canada’s first Playgirl centrefold? “I feel about as exploited as a sculpture in the Louvre. I'm very pleased and proud to show it off,” Chester said in a third-person reference “You can make this country look good, as anyone does who's in the limelight,” he added patriotically. Playgirl executives stressed Chester was not chosen . exclusively for his looks. “We were looking for a particular based on reader feedback,” Playgirl vice-president Rand Richardson said. “One month we might have a dark- haired centrefold and the. next -a blonde but our editorial department feels that today’s man is not necessarily only attractive and has the best body.” “It’s kind of esoteric. What they want to know is what's in your head.” Book banned again CONTINENTAL, Ohio (UPI) - “Of Mice and Men”, a short story by Nobel Prize- winner John Steinbeck, has been removed from a freshman English class at Continental High School because of community complaints about profanity.
