An expansion upon the highly successful ‘Camping ,on Wheels’ Show of previous years, the Vancouver Sportsmen's Show will be held at the Rollerland, Showmart, Food and North Forum buildings. Pete Rose, first baseman for the Philadelphia Phillies of baseball’s National League will be guest of honor at the show. The Pepsi Cola Skicade program to teach students how to ski has entered its second year this year. Skicade will introduce both alphine and _ cross- country skiing to over 14,000 non-skiing students in B.C. SPORTS MAILBAG Pat Rich should be ashamed to have accepted a free weekend at Big White to pretend to be a= sports reporter after his biased negative article, “The Seduction of Big White.” The last paragraph in his article states, “and despite the fact that I don't downhill ski.” This statement sums up my feelings as to why your coverage of ‘the biggest ski racing event to come to this province should have been covered by someone both knowledgeable and _ in- terested in ski racing. Virtually all of the pro racers at Big White have represented their countries on the amature World Cup circuit. So uf you follow ski racing at all the pro’s are not “no names” as Rich would have us belive. Rich states that Pro Racing is never going to make it as a sport-entertain- ment event. More than 100 companies representing many hundreds of lines and products have taken space in the show which is expected to attract in excess of 25,000 visitors.
