at? page 8; July 13, 1977 - ‘North | Vancouver City. council ‘Monday sent to- committee a motion by Alderman Frank . Marcino calling for a halt to any further expansion of grain elevators on this side of the Inlet. The motion would amend the bylaws so as to restrict the development of elevators to the area where they now exist, and would prohibit the spread of the industry to any other zone. Alderman Méarcino also gave council notice that he will make a motion for the city fathers to petition the Wheat Board nat to approve the expansion incentive grant to Pioneer Grain Company. Pioneer is reportedly rely- ing on this grant to finance the construction of their new facility, and if the funds are not forthcoming it could puta halt to the building of Pioneer’s elevatct. The Sas- katchewan Wheat Pool project, however, would not be affected. In other business council instructed staff to prepare a list of complaints about changes in bus stops since the new Sea-Bus feeder routes went into operation. Earlier council had moved. to let the City Engineer examine the problem over a trial six-month period. How- ever, in view of the numer- ous complaints received, aldermen felt it would be unfair to postpone any action for so lengthy a period. ACTION PLAN FOR SEYMOUR | DEVELOPMENT After exhaustive studies Pere Tow tts fs Sr ses sed North Shere News "years Nerth Vancouver - District council got to grips Monday with planning the future of the largely wilder- - ness Seymour area of the municipality. Council agreed to a time- table for action which calls - for final public discussion of * ‘ the various issues raised in the studies to be held by . September 30. After that, phased development plans for the area will be comple- ted by November 15S. . In other business. council decided not to proceed with a proposed survey of District - residents which would have cost $6,500. The object of the survey would have been to learn the views of residents on the way municipal funds are spent; to provide budget guidance for council and staff and to measure public ~- satisfaction or otherwise with council. Most aldermen felt the public would prefer them to save the money. W estview’s application for a land use contract had been held up since June 6 while council considered changes. notice that it would drop the land use contract application and proceed with a regular subdivision, which is. not subject to the same detailed control. ‘Council decided to give the land use. contract three readings anyway, in the hope _ that Westview would revert. to. it rather than proceeding with a subdivision. “‘The chance of the developer. accepting controls now is slim,’’ said Alderman Bob Wyckham, .‘“‘but it is worth the chance.” ‘tile your kitchen, tile your floor — . tile your porch, right to the door . tile your bathroom; make it bright with tile from Rosen; “out of sight"’ 320 new. colours & styles, the latest i in decorative wall and floor tile. have just arrived! .
