Weekend regatta will benefit Easter Seals THE 2ND annual Heineken Cup Easter Seals Regatta is taking place this Saturday in English Bay and False Creek. The regatta fund-raiser is in benefit of the Easter Seals Society, a province-wide chari- ty that helps children with disabilities. Last year the in- augral event raised $65,000. The race begins at 11:30 a.m. and continues until ap- proximately 2:30 when all the . boats—130 in total—will par- ticipate in a boat parade in False Creek. North Shore residents par- ticipating in this year’s event include West Van mayor Mark Sager and Sandy Huntingford, skipper of the General Hospi- tal, the winning yacht of this summer's Victoria-to-Maui race. Mark Beil, 20, placed first in . the Middleweight kickboxing cat- -egory, while John Welleabrink, 7 5, ‘fought to a second-place finish in. the Heavyweight kickboxing catagory. Twelve-year-old Arash Behmard was runner-up in the point-fighting class. Middleweight kickboxer Rob O'Sullivan, 22, finished third’ in his class, as did 15-year-old Cin- dy Moore in the KATA catagory. With new top-of-the-line squash courts, improved curling facilities and additional indoor tennis courts coming to life off the architect’s blueprints, the club is gearing up for a busy fall and winter. “It has always been our goal to offer a full range of family fitness activities,’ said general manager.
