Available at recCea- tre Lonsdale: volleyball instruction, August heritage hikes planned THE FRIENDS of Cypress Provincisl Park is sponsor- ing Hollyburn Heritage Hikes in Cypress Provincial Park every Sunday throughout August. The purpose of the hikes is to provide the public with the oppor- tunity to become familiar with some of the trails and special nat- ural features of the park, in- cluding old-growth forests and mountain lakes. The moderately-easy hikes take about three hours, round trip. Hike coordinators advise par- ticipants to wear sturdy footwear, and to bring protective clothing for changing mountain weather as well as a lunch including a bever- age. Hike coordinators will be at the meeting location regardless of weather, but hikes may be cancelled in the event of heavy ‘tain. Coordinaters are individual members of various hiking and natural history groups. To reach Cypress Provincial Park take the Upper Levels Highway in West Vancouver to the Cypress Bow! Road and con- tinue up. The downhill parking lot is at the end of the road, two ki- lometers beyond the tum-off to the cross-country parking lot.
