Camps promote higher
level of development

British Columbia that has this,
and ! don’t know of another col-
lege in Canada that has this,’’ he
said.

The main basketball court runs
end-to-end down the middle of
the main gym; running side-to-
side are two regulation courts.

“*The ceiling height is almost 30
feet which is international height
so you can have international
competitions here in volleyball,
basketball, badminton or anything

you want,”’ said lacobellis.

The complex has also featured
some high-calibre training camps
and clinics including the Van-
couver 86ers and the Canadian
Olympic soccer team.

Running the basketball camp is
Phil Langley, assistant coach for
the men’s Olympic team; Jim
Easton of the Vancouver 86ers is
heading up the soccer camp.

With the Sportsplex’s impressive
first year almost ended, it is time
to look to the future.

for athletics in North Van-

N. Van Royals win silver

representative, the North
Van Royals, won the silver
medal at the provincial
championships held at the
beginning of this month in
Langford on Vancouver

The team, coached by Ken

Mayson, Greg Miller and Dave
Backie, finished the qualifying
round of the tournament in first
place with four wins and no
losses. By winning three of the
next four playoff games, the
Royals got a berth in the final
game versus Hope.

Despite an excellent effort by
Royals pitcher, Brian Mayson,
and solid play by the team, the
Royals fost to Hope, winning the
silver medal in a 13-team field.
