THE VANCOUVER (North Shore) Business and Profes-
sional Women's Club is busy gearing up to host Focus On
Achievement, the 39th annual convention of the B.C. and
Yukon Business and Professional Women’s Clubs, May
22-24 at the International Piaza Hotel.

Confirmed to be on hand for
Friday’s opening will be MP Mary
Collins, Energy Mines and Pet-
roleum Resources Minister Jack
Davis, MLA Angus Ree and Ald.
Mary Segal for the District of
North Vancouver.

Convention highlights include a
May 23 banquet featuring guest
speaker Oxsuna Exell, executive
director of the Canadian Federa-
tion of Independent Business.

Representing the lobbying power

of 600 members, convention repre-
sentatives will spend Saturday
tackling resolutions on topics in-
cluding abortion facilities, child
care financing, uranium mining
and Alzheimer's disease research.
A recent survey identifies equity
in employment and economic se-
curity, strategies to diminish fami-
ly violence, and programs for per-
sonal development, enrichment
and enhancement as key goals of
the Canadian Business and Profes-

sional Women’s Clubs member-
ship.
