West Vancouver Police said the bears were killed on impact near the Caulfeild and Westmount areas over a period of four days. The fisst incident occurred Sept. 19. Police warn motorists to take extca cantion when driving on the highway. Firm charged for false advertising A NORTH VANCOUVER man and local oi! company have been ordered to stand trial on charges of false advertising. Louis McInnis and North Vancouver's M&L Oil Ltd. are charg- ed jointly with six violations of the Combines Investigation Act (now the Competition Act) in connection with promotion of the Humbug Gas Saver. Advertisements for the device, which ran in various Lower Mainland newpapers from Oct. 1985 to Jan. 1986, claimed to pro- vide the user with better gas mileage and better engine combustion. In addition, the advertisements claimed the device would reduce pollution. The six charges laid against Mcinnis and M&L Oil state that the claims made in the advertisements and the warranties offered were based on inadequate and improper testing. . Appearing before North Vancouver provincial court Judge J.B. Paradis, the defendants were remanded to Jan. 20, 1987 to stand trial on the charges. WV man faces assault charges A 62-YEAR-OLD West Vancouver man appeared in North Yan- couver provincial court Tuesday to face two charges laid against him in connection with an alleged assault. George Les Nagy was churged with possession of a weapon dan- gerous to the public and assault with a weapon following a June 10 incident in which he is alleged to have assaulted another male with a knife. Appearing before Judge J.B. Paradis, Nagy was ordered to stand trial on the charges. Man in court for abduction A 33-YEAR-OLD Burnaby man appeared in North Vancouver provincial court Thursday to face charges stemming from the alleged abduction of his children. Tim Chue Tang was charged with one count of abduction in connection with a July 19 incident in which he is aileged to have taken his three children from a home on Montroyal Boulevard in contravention of a custody order. In addition to the abduction charge, Tang faces one charge of assault, one count of uttering a threat and one count of possession of a resiricted weapon in connection with a May 13 incident in which he is alleged to have assaulted a female member of his fami- ly. Weapons seized from Tang by police following the May 13 inci- dent included a Smith & Wesson .22 revolver, a Colt .45 and a Colt .38 revolver. Appearing before Judge J.B. Paradis, Tang had his case ad- journed to Oct. 22. Garden refuse VANCOUVER Justice of the Peace June McDonald has been = ap- pointed court administrator for the West Vancouver provincial courthouse. NORTH McDonald, 49, takes over the position Oct. 6, and will replace Mary Epps, who retired March 7 after 18 years with West Van- couver Police Department and courthouse. Joining the North Vancouver courthouse’s small claims depart- ment in 1971, McDonald became a justice of the peace in 1980 and was working as a family court clerk with the North Vancouver courthouse before her most recent appointment. $ t i i 4 £ of ¥. A new justice of the peace will be sworn in at the North Van- couver provincial courthouse after McDonald Jeaves.
