The collection was assem-
bled by the British Columbia
Provincial Museum under a.
grant from the First Citizen’s
fund, and has been on
exhibit in Edmonton, Re-
gina, and Winnipeg. This
travelling exhibition has
been funded by the Naticnal
Museums Corporation, and
was conceived and produced
by the British Columbia
Provincial Museum.

‘The exhibition contains
over 8Q pieces from more
than 40 artists, and in-
cludes baskets, blankets,
jewellry, masks, rattles, and
other ceremonial objects.
British Columbia Indian Art
has long been of interest to
the collector and the know-
ledgeable public. Early ar-
tists of the North Pacific
Coast left their descendants
a legacy of skills which the
modern Indian artist uses to
produce innovative, vibrant
works of exceptional quality.
