WY FIRM SELLS 22 SUITS TO DATE

$600,000 Newtsuit order received

THE NEWTSUIT is becoming an
integral part of major international
diving wardrobes.

North Vancouver-based Interna-
tional Hard Suits Inc. (IHSI) an-
Nounced last week that it has
received a $600,000 order for two
of the revolutionary atmospheric
deep sea diving suits from
Tacoma, Washington’s Maritime
Ventures.

The company is projecting 1989
profits of $1,800,000 on revenues
of $4,200,000 based on current
production estimates.

Other Newtsuit sales have been
to the Canadian Navy and com-
panies in Japan, Germany and
Greece.

The suit is also being tested by
the U.S. Navy.

IHS! recently expanded its

North Vancouver facilities to allow .
for commercial Newtsuit produc-
tion.

And Morfopoulos said the com-
pany could be expanding again in
six months to meet international
Newtsuit demand.

The aluminum-skinned Newtsuit
was developed by IHSI president
and Can Dive Services Ltd. found-
er Phil Nuytten from 1979 to 1986.

The suits, which raise to 22 the
number committed to buyers
around the world, are scheduled
for delivery to the American diving
salvage company later this year.

THSI delivered its first commer-
cial production Newtsuit last
December and is currently working
on five units at its North Van-
couver facility.

‘Things look really good,”’ said
IHS] general manager Aris Mor-
fopoulos.

The Newtsuit, which was inter-
nationally certified in December
and displayed by B.C. at the recent
World Economic Forum in Davos,
Switzerland, enables divers to
worl at depths of up to 1,000 feet
without having to undergo decom-
pression.

THSI’s 1989 production capacity
of 12 suits has already been ex-
ceeded by orders, and the company
has distributor commitments of 22
units over the next two years.
