From its distinctive contem- porary lines to its powerful super- charged engine, the Corrado signifies the start of a new esa in Volkswagen driving. Starting with a 1.8-litre 158-hp supercharged engine, the car is supported by a full range of per- formance features such as front- wheel drive, power-assisted rack and pinion steering, automatic rear spoiler and ABS anti-lock disc brakes. The Corrado’s sleek design is a product of repeated wind-tunnel testing and attention to exterior fittings and details. The net result is a striking sports car with an impressive drag coefficient of .32. To increase high speed stability and handling. the rear spoiler of the Corrado automatically raises at 72km/h, reducing rear end lift by up to 64 per cent at high speeds. The Cor- rado is Volkswagen's new en- try into the sports car market. The unique supercharged engine and standard equip- ment makes this car a winner. Volkswagen’s exclusive G60 supercharge, which gives the 158 hp 1.8 litre fuel-injected four- cylinder engine an amazingly powerful boost. The Corrado’s instrument panel is highly legible, and dominated by three large white-on-black analogue gauges; a speedomter, tachometer, and a combination coolant, temperature and fuel level monitor. On the left side of the panel is the digital multi-func- tion tip computer. The front seats have been anatomically designed to provide firm, lateral support when corner- ing at high speeds. They are height-adjustable and heatable. Leather covering is optional. Power windows, mirrors and door locking system are standard, as is air conditioning.
