Robert Douglas Thornton,
47, hanged himself by his
own shirt attached around
the cell bars May 31. He had
been arrested two hours
earlier for being drunk after
police responded to a
“disturbance call.”

Thornton was in a cell by
himself with no other people
in his holding area.
