(Ellsworth Dickson photo) AT PIONEER TERMINAL Three injured in grain silo accident A Vancouver man was seriously injured Tuesday when a transport mechanism at Pioneer Grain Terminals in North Vancouver malfunctioned ,-sending him plunging 100 feet to the second floor of one of the grain elavators. Two other men were injured in the mishap which occured just before 10 a.m. A National Harbours Board Police spokesman said that Glen Watkins, aged 56, of Vancouver; Kasmir Miller, of Surrey, and Ken Newman, aged 37 of Richmond, were riding down on a transport device on one of the grain clavators when the mechanism began “increase speed radically.” Newman managed to jump off at the seventh floor, which was 212 feet above the ground, and the other two remained on the mechanism until they hit the second floor at the 113 feet level The spokesman — said Watkins hit the ground first AD CORRECTION NSN Wed.
