Ambleside Beach. North Van lawn bowlers take provincial fours NORTH VANCOUVER lawn bowlers took top spot at the B.C. Provincial Fours Championship played recently at Vancouver South Lawn Bowling Club, The fours team of Jim Logan S:., Ted Waterson, Vince Mai and skip Bob Scullion won the gold medal by defeating George Box- well’s four from New Westminster 20-19 in a thrilling final game. The teams were tied after regula- tion play and an extra end was played to determine the winner. Scullion’s team advances to Hamilton, Ont., in August to rep- tesent B.C. at the Canadian Championships. This is the third consecutive year a North Vancouver team has won the provincial fours title. Last year Peter Fish skipped the winning four and in 1989 Scullion again skipped the victorious team. Almost 306 competitors played in the week-long tourney. A NEW indoor tennis facility is slated to open this fall at Sentinel Secondary in West Vancouver. The Sentinel Tennis Centre will feature a three-court, air supported bubble that will be open for tennis year-round. Showers, a change room and parking are also included in the facility. The centre is offering indi- vidual, family and corporate memberships and will alsa be open to the public on a “nay and play"* basis. Tennis professional Allan Lawry said the cost for non- menibers will be approximately $12 to St4 per hour.
