AS thousands of peo- ple in Turkey continue to recover from earth- quake devastation, the Canadian Red Cross in the Lower Mainland announced recently that it is ready to accept disaster tracing inquiries for missing family members. “We can only accept inquiries about immediate family members with whom contact has been made with- in the last 12 months,” said Red Cross — spokesperson Adrienne Bakker. “The inquirer will also need to know the exact last known address of their fami- ly member and whether they resided in the earthquake- affected area,” she added. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has announced that the German Red Cross is taking the lead in this tracing service and has sent two delegates to Turkey to assist the Turkish Red Crescent.
