proper skiwear and equipment
for your needs.

Unless skiing to vou means
warming up in the lodge, you will
want your skiwear to perform func-
tion first, then fashion, Whether you

choose technical styling or more
fashion-forward looks, you won't
be compromising comfort and
warmth,

Ask yourself the following ques-
tions before you buy, to make sure
your skiwear performs properly.

@Are you a new skier? If so,
you will need more warmth, since
you will be standing longer, and
weterproof pants with a bib on the
front to guard against snow when
you fall,

Also, you can probably get away
with a used or lesser-priced suit

more experienced skier,

OWill you ski in any weather,
keeping in mind the weather
changes throughout the day? To
fect comfortable in any weather,
you will need waterproof gear for
heavy rain, water resistent fabric for
drier weather, and a wind-resistent
layer for gusts and blizzards.

@Will you be wearing it for
anything else? Retailers claim
much of skiwear is not sold to
skiers, but is used instead for hik-
ing, boating, snowboarding and
streetwear.

A removable, lightweight shell,
reversible features and separates as
opposed to a one-piece suit will
prove useful for warmer activities.

@How often will you ski?
There is no need to buy expensive,
technically-designed, or even new
equipment and clothing if you will
only ski a few times a season.
