Programs present the big picture

THE FACULTY of Com-
meree and Business Ad-
ministration has linked up
wth the School of Com-
munity and Regional Ptan-
ning to establish Canada’s
lirst academic programs that
focus on real property de-
velopment across the coun-
try.

Real property develop-
ment is @ multi-billion-doliar
industry in B.C. which
creates housing, commercial
and industrial centres, and
recreational and cultural fa-
cilities, said Planning School
Director Alan Artibise.

Stan Hamilton said al-
though real estate develop-
ment is a major sector in
the cconomy, the industry
has been virtually renored.

“Up until now, no Cana-
diaa university has ever of-
fered a comprehensive view
of real estate developmeni,”’
said Hamilton.
