The shawl collar shirt tucks into the fringed pant, both in white silk crepe de chine. Choose shoes wisely WE'RE ALL familiar with the old adage, ‘*If the shoe fits, wear it.”’ Yet, considering that the average North American will buy between 300 and 450 pairs of shoes and watk the equivalent of two and a half times around the world in a lifetime, some time and care should be taken before deciding to make a footwear pur- chase. When buying a shoe, consider the following tips: ® Stitching. Look for a material that is evenly stitched. This will ensure that the shoes will hold together with regular use. If shocs are worn in wet weather, stitching that is too widely spaced might leak, so make sure it’s a nice, tight weave and that all seams are smooth. * Lining. The fining in a shoe will be an obvious clue to quality. A leather lining, be it lambskin or kidskin, is preferable as it is breathable, keeping feet cool, dry and comfortable. Man-made linings such as vinyl or tricot wear well, but do not breathe. You should feel the entire fining of a shoe to check for smoothness. Any bunching or bumps might tear hosiery and cause blisters. ® Sotes. Leather soles are of the highest quality since they wear ex- tremely well and give good per- formance over a long period of time. More resilient soles, made of rubber or urethane, offer better traction and flexibility, yet will need to be replaced more fre- quently. ¢The Box Toe. Located in the toe of the shoe, the box toe en- sures that the front of the shoe will not get. crushed or collapse and that toes have freedom of movement without being cramped. Built into the contour just under the surface, the box toe is an im- portant feature that will help maintain the shape and preserve the life of the shoe. * The Counter. This is the con- toured section that supports your heel. It should keep the foot secure and comfortable without being so rigid that it will not con- form to the movement of the heel, causing discomfort and blistering. © Upper Materials. Fine leathers are nearly always preferable in the upper material. They wear well, are stylish and will remain fresh looking for a much longer time than man-made materials, Among the most elegant of fine leathers are calfskin, kidskin and finely napped suede. iy dward Chapman Men's Wear Chafpry’s F Full-Time & '- Part-Time, | Employment : Opportunities Women's Wear Assistant Manager Chapy’s Kerrisdale Phone Pauline Verdicchio 261-5128 for an appointment Sales Position for Downtown Location Phone Liz Chapman 685-6207 for an appointment A Husqvarna Magazine with FREE Vogue Pattern ---—--——— Enclosed i B 2 3 x oat (Free $18.00 vaiue) ’ ART OF SEWING MAGAZINE * 22 Great Jackets to | [ i includes inspre your creativity Plus ¢ Great tips from Husqvarna for sewing and serger enthusiasis Sale ART OF SEWING EVENT * Husqvarna 1090 New top-end Computer Save $300.00 * Husqvarna 95 for all basic sewing Sergers from $499Save $200 Now $498 ,) 4 742 WESTVIEW SHOPPING CTR., N.V. {on the Upper Levels Highway) Open daily 9:30-6:00, Sunday 42:00-5:00 Stock #50874 *85 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL Champagne/Cream leather, sunroof, All books and records.
