Reservoir water siowly clarifies TURBIDITY in Capilano reservoir water caused by heavy rains last week could take several weeks to clear completely, according to the Greater Vancouver’s chief water engineer. John Morse said Wednesday a ‘‘significant’’ slide in the Capilano reservoir occurred last Friday approximately five kilometres above the head of Capilano lake and resuited in the jump in water turbidity readings in the reservoir’s water. He said Capilano water turbidity would likely take several weeks to clear because of the fine nature of the watershed’s scils. In the meantime, he said, the GVRD will dilute the Capilano water with water from the Seymour reservoir. A deluge of 19.6 mm of rain fell in the Lower Mainland area in the 24-hour period immediately prior to the reservoir slide. rug meeting held at school THE 8.C.
