RCMP warn
seniors of
fraud scheme

NORTH VANCOUVER RCMP
are warning seniors to be wary of a
telephone fraud scheme presently
under way.

Local seniors have been receiv-
ing calls from a man identifying
himself as a bank inspector. He
tells the senior that the bank is
having difficulty with his or her
bank account and that he requires
the senior to come to the bank to
straighten the matter out.

Police are asking seniors to be
aware that banking institutions do
not operate in this manner. Police
advise recipients of such calls to
not give out information to the
caller. Such calls should be
reported to the police.
