jumped to $224 million.

Today assets exceed a quarter
billion dollars. Net earnings in-
creased by 90 per cent, from
$333,000 in 1986 to $635,000 for
1987. The credit union is involved
in financing commercial mortgages
and carries a large percentage of
the community’s personal mor-
tgages.

Canada Trust posted record
results for 1987 with net earnings
of $201 million, an increase of 61
per cent from $124.5 million in

1986. The trust company ad-
ministered a total $25.5 billion in
corporate assets and $35.1 billion
in personal, pension and pooled
trust funds.

The Federal Business Develop-
ment Bank, a Crown corporation
established by Parliament in 1974,
is mandated to promote the
development of small and medi-
um-sized' businesses in Canada.
