‘Local sraphologist has the write stuff

FOR WEST Vancouver graphologist Renate Griffiths, the heads in France revealed that two

science of analysing handwriting is neither a fad, nor is it
restricted to advising employers on the best job applicant to

hire.

While legal work usually in-
volves being called as an expert
witness to examine questioned
documents, Griffiths was recently
asked to help out in a custody bat-
tle.

One of the lawyers involved sent
her samples of both the mother’s
and the father’s handwriting, and
asked her to judge from them who
would make the better parent.

to tell him that both of them were
losers.°*

Griffiths said the father had a
typical alcoholic’s handwriting. It
was later confirmed to her that he
was indeed suffering from
alcoholism.

While some people, especially
job applicants, may worry that
graphology may only reveal their
negative traits, French
graphologists and personnel ex-
perts, who often utilize the science,
disagree.

characteristics that don"t show up
on a resume, but will show up in
handwriting analysis.

Griffiths says that, locally, it is
middle-sized companies that usual-
ly come to her for advice in
employee selection. When asked
how the managers respond to her
input, she says, ‘‘Oh, they’re hap-
py. It saves them a lot of money —
. they know that.’”

Since 1984, Griffiths has also

service that uses handwriting
analysis as one of a number of
tests that allow her to get a three-
dimensional picture of the person.

What those recollections tell her
is significant, Griffiths says,
because ‘‘you remember everything
in your life, but selectively you will
remember the incidents that have
feelings attached to them that are
still active now.”

By putting the various clues
together, she says ‘‘it’s fascinating
how quickly you can access the
problem.’" And when she takes
handwriting samples from. other
members of the family ‘‘the whole
thing comes to light’® and she feels

she has a good starting point from
which to begin counselling the
client.

Griffiths recently spent two
weeks in London at a workshop
for graphologists and
psychoanalysts, at which she pres-
ented a paper. This week, she
begins teaching a course in
graphology at the Park Royal
Hotel.
