While legal work usually in- volves being called as an expert witness to examine questioned documents, Griffiths was recently asked to help out in a custody bat- tle. One of the lawyers involved sent her samples of both the mother’s and the father’s handwriting, and asked her to judge from them who would make the better parent. By PEGGY WHITTAKER : Villager Reporter Unfortunately, she said, ‘‘! had to tell him that both of them were losers.°* Griffiths said the father had a typical alcoholic’s handwriting. It was later confirmed to her that he was indeed suffering from alcoholism. While some people, especially job applicants, may worry that graphology may only reveal their negative traits, French graphologists and personnel ex- perts, who often utilize the science, disagree. Griffiths says that, locally, it is middle-sized companies that usual- ly come to her for advice in employee selection. When asked how the managers respond to her input, she says, ‘‘Oh, they’re hap- py. Griffiths recently spent two weeks in London at a workshop for graphologists and psychoanalysts, at which she pres- ented a paper.
