THE NORTH Shore Industrial Hockey League 1986-87 season opened Sept. 27 with the North Shore News squad dropping the Togo Jets 3-1. It was close-checking contest with each team being held to under 20 shots on goal. The News’ Bob Knight opened the scoring with only 19 seconds gone in the first period when he broke through the Jets’ defence and scored the only goal of the period with a bullet slap shot from the left face- off circle. Mike ‘‘Buffalo"’ Schemmer and Dave Eister assisted on the goal. News captain Bruce Bonbernard added to his team’s lead rnidway through the second period when he scored the second goal of the game assisted by Dale Spooner and Doug Tomkin. Two minutes later, Steve Blyth of the Jets scored with an assist from Randy Telford. The News held the one-goal lead until Iate in the third period when Brian Lawley added an insurance et rolling events held at bowling centres all over the country. Ralf's success has now established ringette as a sport that will produce scholarship can- didates in the future. She was on the first ringette team at the North Shore Winter Club and won the sportsmanship award every year she was eligible. Ralf also competed annually with the B.C. all-star team at the Canadian National Ringette championships. Finally she became a very suc: cessful referee and coach.
