Borsholt is realistic when
she considers her medal
chances at the Olympics. ‘‘l
personally think [| have a
good chance. It’s anybody's
race, and the person with the
better concentration could
win, because everybody's
quite equal right now. | feel
good about it,’’ she says.
And she is philosophical
when she assesses the impact
of the U.S.S.R. led boycott
of the Games. ‘“‘If you look
at #0 from the point of the
boycott, « doesn't matter.

not,’’ says Borsholt. ‘‘it’s
too bad politics has to come
into it. But why not make a

Future plans will see Bor-
sholt’ retiring from com-
petitive swimming at the end
of the year. She is currently
taking a business degree at
UBC and plans to make the
discipline her longterm
career.

Reflecting on her swimm-
ing career, Borsholt says the
1984. Olympics, her final
goal, represent a final honor
in the demanding sport.

“It's im some ways a
reward for all the hours
you've put into at. It’s an
honor for the country and for
yourself,’’ says Borsholt
“Over the years you learn
there's more to at than just
yourself. There’s a whole
country - and people look
up to you There's a lot of
responsibility attached = to
