IN NORTH VAN

This year marks the 45th
birthday of the Society for
the Preservation and En-
couragment of Barbershop
Singing in America
(SPEBSQSA). The Society
was founded in April, 1938,
in Tulsa, Oklahoma to
preserve and maintain the
tradition of Barbershop
(four-part harmony) Singing.
Today, it as the largest
fraternity of singers in the
world with over 38,000

members in 800 chapters.
The Vancouver Chapter (the
“Thunderbirds’’) was
founded in 1950, and boasts
a membership of some 55
from all walks of hfe in the
Greater Vancouver Region.

the “Pacific Pride” from

Burnaby, B.C. Songs of the
turn of the century will be
featured.
