cars, vintage cars, and some fairly
vintage owners as well, we were
awash in beautiful old buggies and

. some beautiful people as well.

Anyone who thinks that
growing old is no fun hasn't hung
around our waiting roam on Old
Car Day and traded quips with
some of our very young older
customers. Our ads must attract
people with a superior sense of

umour, either that or they have
been around long enough to hear
all the jokes in the world at least
twice. At any rate, any time we do
something on old cars, we get a
parade of characters who could
amply fill up and do justice to any
situation comedy. Better still, if |
could only get them to combine
forces, sit down and write a
script who knows, | might be
able to get out of the body shop
business once and for all

problem is, that is as far as our
thinking has got. Every time two
of us sit down to talk about it,
someone brings ‘In’ another
banged up car for us.to fix. It has
been going on this way for
months. Finally, in desperation, |
am turning to you, the reader, and
hoping perhaps you might have a
little more time to cogitate on the
subject What should we do?
Have an old car show and an
open house? Offer prizes, and if
so, what kind of prizes would you,
the public like, without sending
me to the poorhouse in the
bargain! | have visions of happy
people bringing kids down,
balloons, hot dogs and clowns.
