In. the grade seven boys division, Kevin Arnold from Four. of seven Capilano College ‘Blues teams have- already swung into action in preparation for. their respective 9 paigns and there are early indications that the North Shore college could equal, if not surpass, their collective - performances of last year’s banner year. With no team under 500 in the win/loss column last season, and the trophies of two championship teams safely stashed away in. their trophy case, the Blues have firmly established them- selves as an_ athletic powerhouse in the Totem Conference. How will the Blues fare this year? According to College Athletics Director, Neil - Chester, the recent success of his teams has prompted an influx of fine athletes on the North Shore campus, but this plus factor must be tempered by the knowledge that no team in the tough Totem Conference will be regarding the Blues lightly this season. And at the grade three level Jason Jennings of Irwin Park was first.in the boys dlemass topped the girls division. ~ soccer Blues, will be fielding a veteran team as coach Joe Iacobellis has nine players ._returning from last season's undefeated squad. Brothers Ken and Terry Charles are among thé returning veterans and should provide a lot of scoring punch for a team that figures to be loaded with offense. Iacobellis is pleased with his team's progress in the preseason and believes the Blues have an excellent chance of repeating their championship performance of a year ago. Like last year, the Interior colleges will be very com- petitive, but the real op- position still figures to be provided by B.C.1.T. and Vancouver Community College. RUGBY: Having filed away his fifth championship. in six years last season, Blues coach Bob Bagshaw is expressing cautious optimism in regard to his club’s chances of retaining their Totem Conference crown. Forward Sandra Jack, a Windsor graduate who was plagued by a knee injury last year, is also among the returning veterans and should give the Blues tough rebounding inside, providing her knee can stand up to the rigors of a long season.
