22 - Wednesday, September 24, 1997 — North Shore News north shore news © SPORTS -1-1 Relay aliracts racers to Ambleside NORTH Shore ‘residents turned out in force for Lions Gate Hospital’s largest annual fundraising event, the 9-1-1 Relay this past Sunday. Twelve hundred participants walked, strolled, ran or Je ed the two-kilometre course at Ambleside Park. In this, th year for the event, participants collected pledges totalling $137, 000. That money will go towards the purchase ofa neurosurgical microscope. To date, well over half a million dollars has been raised towards hospital emergency services. Event organizer Sue Sinn says those figures make the 9-1-1 one of the top fundraising events in the city.
