new ring in the abode of North.

Brazeau is directing The Passion
of Dracula at Arts Club Theatre. His
wife, Suzanne Ristic, plays an
accused witch in The Crucible at the
Vancouver Playhouse.

- esting at night,” quips Brazeau.

English village after the turn of the
century, the play stars Eric
McCormack as the Transylvanian
nobleman.

The = devilishly handsome
McCormack, who plays Clay Mosby
on the TV series Lonesome Dove,
was Brazeau’s No. | choice for the
role.

“He’s perfect,” says Brazeau, who
had McCormack pegged for the role
even before he was cast as director.

~The last time the Arts Club
mounted Dracula was 16 years ago
with Brent Carver, and later Winston
Reckert, in the title role. That pro-
duction was a hit then.

Brazeau is hoping it will be again
now. {n defiance of any suggestions
that the Gothic revival might be dead,
he insists that “vampires are very hot
right now.”

Besides, as any vampire knows,

even the dead can be revitalized with a little lifeblood.
Brazeau is hoping that his production is the tonic.
The Passion of Dracula plays the Arts Club Theatre

until Feb, 24, Mondays through Saturdays at 8 p.m.

is nicely balanced, subtle cherry
accents behind the grape, with a
clean dry tannic finish. A good red
for the rand. :

The 1983, also available for
$18.95, would certainly be worth
trying if just to see how a case of
this might stand up with a 10-year
time out.
