In Victoria, the Health Planning Database (HPDB) is'a.
province-wide decision support system based on a data’
warehouse of health and socia-economic data. The HPDB |
team plans and develops innovative ways to met the needs-

of our. clients - managers, analysts, ‘planners: and
researchers throughout the health industry. a ES

The Senior Programmer Analyst will lead. the HPDB. |
technical team in converting client requirements and |
specifications into structured and optimized software. Duties * |
inciude: planning and coordinating the development and
testing of new software; and implementing and managing
security controls, including client access and usage audit
functions, As the senior technical advisor, you will contribute «
to strategic planning for HPDB and provide input to.
upcoming decisions on technology selection, acquisition and
platform migration. . .

Qualifications: Degree in computer science with a minimum
of five years experience in programming and analysis, or the
equivalent in education and experience. The successful
candidate will have played a major role in a decision support
and/or data warehouse project in a large corporation; will
have ‘recent experience with structured design and.
programming techniques, systems security, testing and |
change control, and a strong background in SQL/DS, QMF,
VM/CMS, REXX and ISPF. In addition, will have the ability
to manage staff, work within a team environment,
communicate effectively both verbally and written; so!ve
complex problems, and provide off-hours suppopt if required.
Related experience with open architectures and
client/server applications is preferred. Applicants with lesser
qualifications may be appointed at a lower level. :
