The North Vancouver District 44 Schoo! Board (NVSB) has been involved in a pilot project called the Artists For Kids Trust) in which the school district, will pur- chase original paintings from well-known B.C. artists such as Robert Beteman, Gardon Smith and Bill Reid. Schools sel] the paintings to the general public and the profit will then go back to the NVSB, al- though the trust keeps the interest from the profits to be used to de- velop fine arts prograras in North Vancouver schools. Recently, two students from each school in the district attended three art sessions, which ran for three days, working with artist Gordon Smith. That program had teachers and students doing mono-print mak- ing, an art form Smith is currendy exploring. The art the students produced is currently on display at North Vancouver District hall and the North Vancouver provincial court house.
