ing, or snowmobiling in the fresh
B.C. air on a frozen pond or
stream.

Winter sports are fun, but peo-
ple should also be wary of the
dangers involved.

Outdoor enthusiasts should not
venture onto ice until they know its
thickness. Ice must be 10 cm (4’’)
thick before it’s safe for people,
and snowmobiles require 20 cm
(8"’) of ice to securely support their
weight.
