Entry: pry History of WV library to be written NOT WITHSTANDING the future major .expansion of West Vancouver Memorial Library, the 40-year-old municipal building has already undergone many interior and exterior changes. It is this history, including details about the small, early len- ding libraries of the district (going back to about 1919), that the Me- morial Library Board is planning to have written and published in a hard-cover edition. At their Sept. 18 meeting, West Vancouver District Council agreed to the board’s request for the $17,500 financing cost. West Vancouverite Sally Carswell viill be the author of the new book, which will be printed in 2,000 copies. “It seems a very appropriate means of promoting the 40th an- niversary of a very successful and popular community _library...,”’ wrote chief librarian Jack Mounce in a letter to municipal manager Terry Lester. By selling the book at $12 a copy, the board expects to bring in an offsetting revenue of $17,800.
