For further information can Church is located at 4769 calf 922-3531. ft THE ENVIRONMENT is _ the focus of a forum being presented by St. Francis-in-the-Wood Angli- can Church in West Vancouver on Sunday, April 16 and 23, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. The first evening, April 16, Dr. Bill Rees, of the department of city and regional planning at UBC, will provide an overview of the Brund- tland Report. The report is the work of the World Commission on Environ- ment and Development, which was set up by the United Nations, and is a powerful global statement that is prompting environmental action around the world. The commission’s assessment of the present world environmental situation and recommendations for future action challenge the global community to achieve ‘‘sustainable development,’’ defined as growth which is both economically and ecologically sustainable. Rees will also discuss current initiatives being taken in response to the Brundtland Report. A ques- tion period will follow his pres- entation. On the second evening, April 23, a pane! consisting of speakers from the provincial government, the forest industry and environmental action groups will discuss the Brundtiand Report’s application to British Columbia. A discussion period following the presentation will enable par- ticipants to explore the ways they, as individuats and as a community, can respond to the environmental Did You Know...
