But dreary days need not be a bore. With some Christmas music playing and hot cocoa on the stove, you can turn those sombre sad sacks into cheery cherubs in a twinkling, with a no-bake Christmas fantasy house. Even the youngest of children can join in the construction of the festive creation. FANTASY HOUSE To construct the no-bake sweet fantasy house, you'l! need or- namental icing, gumdrops, a roll- ing pin, wax paper, assorted can- dies, candy canes, graham crackers and a small cardboard box. ORNAMENTAL ICING Combine is: large bowl 16 oz. confectioner’s sugar, 2 tsp. cream of tartar, 4 tsp. vanilla extract and 3 whites. With mixer, blend until smooth, then beat at high speed until stiff. Use right away; keep bowl covered (note: icing dries quickly). Makes 3 cups. Where necessary, saw graham crackers with a serrated knife. Glue graham crackers to the box using the ornamental icing. Ice the roof heavily and stick on room-temperature egg halved flat-rolled gumdrops for shingles. With icing, fasten candy canes onto each of the four corners of the house. Line the doorway arch with small peppermint candies. To create the melting snow look, thin some of the icing with a few drops of water and apply to edges of roof. Ice a yard area on a sheet of wax paper ard stake your claim by placing your house right in the middle. Turn ice cream sugar cones up- side-down and ice heavily. Cover with halved, flat-rofled green gumdrops. Add _ tiny-dot fruit candies as ornaments. To add to yard, moisten a spot with more icing and plant the tree. ICING IS the only thing yeu have to make to construct this no-bake sweet fantasy house. You can store your fantasy house wrapped in plastic, and year after year you’ll recell the fun you had putting it together. ° Brighten home for the holidays DECORATING CAN be the best part of the holiday season.
